Awards Shawards: SBS campaigns win at Promax, Cannes

The work of SBS's marketing unit was recognised recently with a couple of significant awards from Cannes and New York.

(Or how being acknowledged by your global peers makes you feel pretty good!)

The media industry abounds with big, glamorous awards events and the biggest one of all has been taking place in Cannes in the south of France – the Cannes Lions advertising awards.

These awards recognise the best advertising work in the world and SBS, through our advertising agency partners at Razor Junior, was a finalist in 2 categories for our campaign to promote Who Do You Think You Are earlier in the year. Recognised for some of the best advertising in the world – we are pretty happy about that!

A gathering of 2000 of the brightest minds in television promotion took place in New York. The annual Promax/BDA Awards are the pinnacle of television promotion and design. SBS was a finalist in four categories and we've brought home two trophies – a bronze for our news graphics and a silver for our promotion of the Tour de France last year.

Awards are not the be all and end all – after all connecting Australians to the amazing content on SBS is why the marketing team get out of bed each morning. But it feels pretty good to be recognised for your work.
